REVISITING THE AGENDA FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT REFORMS

(REGIONAL CONSULTATIONS)

 

The Centre for Democratic Development Ghana (CDD Ghana) in collaboration with Local Governance Network (LOGNet) organized consultations on the agenda for local government reforms across all 16 regions. CDD Ghana had previously conducted a survey with some selected participants across the country and sought their views on the intended reforms. After analyzing the views of participants, CDD-Ghana saw the need to share the reports with stakeholders and ascertain the views of stakeholders at the local level on the issue as well. For this, CDD-Ghana in collaboration with LOGNet mobilized stakeholders across the regions for the forum

Resource Link Foundation being the regional representative for LOGNet facilitated the Bono and Ashanti region consultations. It was a three-day program with selected stakeholders. To give all stakeholders the opportunity to make inputs, the forum was divide into morning and afternoon sessions for the three days and grouping stakeholders with common interest into same sessions to facilitate a smooth interaction. Among the stakeholders were CSOs, media personnel, Chiefs and opinion leaders, PWDs, Market women, Farmers, Religious leaders, Youth groups, members from the local government, professional associations and political parties.

Mr. Dawud Suleiman from Resource Link facilitated the Bono Regional consultations while Mr. Christopher Dapaah facilitated the Ashanti Regional consultations.
