RLF aims at strengthening the capacity of people and partner organizations as well as advocating to promote sustainable development with a focus on the following key issues:
- Education (ICT and library use)
- Health (TB, HIV/AIDS and reproduction)
- Environment/Agriculture
- Women and children welfare
- Youth, micro and small enterprises as well as other socio economic activities
To enable RLF to achieve the set goals, the following general objectives have been established among others:
- To promote education through the establishment of community libraries and information technology units.
- To promote health Including preventing TB, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Reproductive issues and other allied diseases
- Reduction of poverty by providing support for the youth, women and children (micro-finance and micro-credit schemes)
- Promote trade issues and food security as well as nutritional programmes
- Ensuring environmental sustainability through forest conservation and afforestation programmes.
- Good governance and democracy as well as human rights
- Promote capacity building and resource mobilization programs
- Research into appropriate use of resources in the community in diverse ways
- Any other activity that will promote development through the judicious use of resources
